And, to preempt your first question, you can use up to 5000 words unless you're really on a roll in which case, I'll accept 10,000.

I mean, seriously. Look at the way that *everybody* is confused about using the mouse and keyboard and numpad at the same time. And, YOU'VE SEEN movies with Sandra Bullock.

I don't think people remember just how recent a development that online pizza is.

I would have been better off storing fresh stumps up there.
I could have put these textbooks in the ground floor closet, but noooooo.

Last time, it was 'xenoerotica' or sex with space aliens.
What's wild is that 90% of these books are just perfectly normal light fantasy.

There's a graphic scene describing the main character sucking this ghost's cock. I was very worried that his orgasm was going to contain a great deal of dust. The good news, I suppose, is that the ghost also gives good head.
I don't want to give too many spoilers.

I read a LOT of audiobooks because I have a LOT of chores and audiobooks are great because they leave my hands and eyeballs available for SO many activities.

Anyway, I told him he needs to re-think his solution on a day that isn't Christmas Eve.

He tells me, "It's got the right odbc driver in it. Shouldn't it just automatically connect?"

"Connect to what, exactly? What are you telling PowerBI is your driver? How are you remote-serving *this* driver?"

"Isn't that docker?"
December 25, 2025 at 1:40 AM
Well, he's got to connect his issued laptop's PowerBI to a MongoDB database and he isn't allowed to install the odbc driver on the issued laptop. So, he's installing the driver in a dockerfile to run on AWS.

I ask him, "Is this a proxy of some kind? Like, how are you connecting PowerBI to *this*"

So, anyway, I'm coaching this guy through fixing his syntax errors and I'm reading the dockerfile between builds and errors and he's downloading this odbc driver and then moving it and nothing else. No entrypoint, no command, no nothing. Just extract the driver and quit.

So, I ask him.

Dude arrived on Teams with a broken dockerfile. Things like downloading one tarball but extracting from a different spelling. Things like copying this extracted tarball to another directory in the same root.

I should mention that he's sharing 4k and I'm on three 1k, so I see shapes of letters.

Most of the time, it's 'emotional-support developer' type of things like telling them to read the error message out loud or pointing out their syntax error, and everybody moves on with their day.

Today was different.
