The book/series 11.22.63 is wild because, as somebody having lived in Lisbon Falls, that is NOT Lisbon Falls and it would have been *so* easy to make it Lisbon Falls. It's ONE crossroads. It's ONE textile mill. It's ONE main street. It's ONE pool hall disguised as a diner. It's all WRONG, Mr. King.

@profhalloran.bsky.social You're the closest thing I have to a Supreme Court justice: on the off chance that a POTUS dies in office, is it possible to impeach them for bribery in absentia?

one takeaway from the grok noncon porn thing is that much of the media just isn't interested in an issue they can't pretend has two sides or that doesn't give them an opportunity to shit on the left. Also it would be uncomfortable to justify remaining on twitter after acknowledging it

When I'm getting of a Teams call after solving somebody's WILD-ASSED computer/network/code/devops problem, I like to say, "Make sure to like and subscribe!"

I get why I kept all my university textbooks. What I don't get is why I kept them in the attic.

“Can’t believe NYC elected a Muslim as mayor.”

In truth—a Black American Christian woman swearing in a Ugandan American Muslim of South Asian ethnicity as his Syrian American wife holds the Qurans he swears in on, all while standing on the steps of a subway station—is the most NYC thing imaginable.

I think I'm reading Christmas smut? Specifically, I think this character is going to bang the literal Ghost of Christmas Past.

This is reprehensible. Absence of state coercion is a fundamental principle of religious freedom.

Not only is this a constitutional principle; but it is also fundamental to may religious traditions (including Catholicism).

This should be aggressively condemned.

At work, I'm the guy to go to when you don't know how to proceed with a solution. That's not real my job. I do other stuff.

It's an additional-duty kind of thing.

They come with messes at their wit's end, and I coach them through fixing it while I try to figure out why they're doing 'that.'

My house is 54' long. I'm glad I didn't win this raffle.
My sister won a 55' tv from a raffle at work. The owner called to tell her. I'm so happy for her 🥹!

While not admitting to piracy, I do owe @themountaingoats.bsky.social money for the Tallahassee album. What 'platform' would be best for him to get all the money.

Is there some law about how often I check my mail? I'll confess right now that I almost never check my mail. It's never for me, and the stuff that is for me is bills that I already knew about and paid. I once went 5 months and missed an office badge being sent to me and a replacement credit card

I once had a neighbor who was a grass geneticist.

I told him that I'd pay extra for Franken-grass Guard Grass or whatever he wanted to call it, and they could use my Franken-grass Guard Grass name for free. Fast growing and teeth, I said.

Turns out that isn't his side of the research.

My theory is that Zosia isn't gay. In fact, she's a HUGE homophobe and she HATES Carol, but hive-mind and all that.

Explaining to my dog that even though he's probably got years remaining, in about 9 months, I'll start searching for his replacement. BUT, not because he's not a good dog. He's a very good dog. It's nothing to do with his behavior, but because he's getting old and he needs to train his replacement.
