tweet i didnt send because its way too long: I think if you're a musician and you're on the fence about just sitting down and learning music theory for real, you should know that for better or worse it's descriptive not prescriptive. Nothing will ever tell you "how to write a song that sounds like kinda sad but also kinda vengeful" or whatever; at best you will come away with the loose "dictionary" that is understanding intervals and chord qualities, but how you feel about every interval and chord quality and scale etc is still a personal thing and there isn't any kind of scientific creativity-terminating "these are the happy chords these are the sad chords" canon, anyone who is trying to sell you that is grifting you for the holy Google AdSense dollar. More importantly music theory lets you communicate with other musicians which is basically infinitely valuable because everyone else in the entire world is capable of having ideas you never could and you can just ask them how they did a thing that sounds cool and they can answer, and at least in my experience it feels kind of embarrassing when someone asks you some shit about your compositions and you go "I don't know. I just pressed random keys until I got the sound I wanted" which I will say again isn't an invalid way to make music. there is no invalid way to make music. But if you want to go pro or even just express the song ideas you get in your dreams or walking around doing boring shit at work before they dissolve like cotton candy in water you're probably going to want to streamline shit rather than having to rediscover 7sus4 chords from first principles

A bag of Manzela brand "Manzelazo Japanese Style Peanuts" that's blue instead of red and doesn't have a potentially offensive mascot but does have that vaguely orientalist font of text. I don't know what to tell you these are kind of just the hazards of enjoying Japanese Peanuts. They don't actually come from Japan. We don't have WinCo in Chicago I can't just buy them from a bulk bin. I'm over here paying $1 for a sleeve once or twice a week instead. Which like is a great deal let's be honest

Trying a new brand of Japanese peanuts and these ones feel significantly less like they're going to shatter my teeth into a thousand pieces when I bite down but still very crunchy. I taste a lil sesame oil too. Which is weird because that's not listed in the ingredients
A bag of "de la Rosa" brand "Japonés Nishiyama" Japanese peanuts. They have a kind of questionable mascot? But maybe that's not my business. I don't know. I wasn't looking very hard at the bag when I bought them. My usual brand was gone I just kind of saw this with my brain in grocery seeking mode and went "these are japanese peanuts" we've all made some choices in Grocery Mode that maybe we wouldn't have made outside of Grocery Mode ok

I defeated the fucker. Don't ask me why the terminal is running as administrator I'll figure that out some other day. Anyway now I can finally get started on Actually Making Something. Whee
On the left is a terminal window showing the code for "test_script.gd", including a definition for the keyword (@export_category) I'm currently trying to use in it, and on the right is "test_script.gd" in the Godot inspector, displaying what it should in accordance with the code written in the nvim terminal window, thus showing I successfully wrestled the computer into submission.
