This is what is at stake: the ability to save people from life threatening diseases. And we are all alive today because of science.
One of the most powerful moments of the day came from Emily Whitehead who told the story of how she was the first pediatric patient to receive CAR T-cell therapy for her leukemia at age 5: “I stand up for science because science saved my life. And that’s a fact.” @standupforscience.bsky.social

"What are you afraid of? What is it about the process of science, modern medicine, caring for our neighbors, or Women's History Month, that you all find so scary?"

I created a brief spreadsheet of reductions I've heard of so far. Any additions you know of (especially if you have the links/receipts) would be great: docs.google.com/spreadsheets...

If anyone has the resources to resist, its HHMI. Ending this program with no notice and literally scrubbing evidence it ever existed from the website is shocking and dosappointing

Ever wondered how Pol II speed is controlled during productive elongation?
Our study reveals that the helicase RECQL5 triggers transcription braking, while the transcription-coupled DNA repair complex restores the elongation rate. #cryoEM #transcription

My first and definitely last time working with the Los Angeles Times. Editing out the most urgent point of an OpEd in the minutes before sending to press while then also assigning a title and image that suggest an argument entirely opposite to the author’s clear intent is pretty shitty.

Costco - the only company to publicly come out in support of Diversity initiatives despite pressure from the GOP and they just raised the pay for their workers. Stop shopping at Target.

I honestly believe our most powerful position in a toxic time that feeds on cynicism, apathy,& despair is to genuinely care and act for a better world.

Cynicism is our enemy. We should check it, incl. on the left. It’s not intellectually superior. It’s the virus they’re trying to infect us with. NO

Timeless classic! 😂😂😂
4 yrs ago today, a family member managed a truly spectacular own goal, splintered his domestic bliss, & in the process, united the world for a day.

On popular request, I shall now recreate the livetweet thread from that day

So gather around children, for this is the tale of The Rice Truck Saga

I have been thinking about this quote from Ted Lasso, and how much judgement those of us who are 'new' to a city, a company, or a country face.
a man with a mustache is standing in front of a crowd and says " be curious not judgmental "

Gene regulation involves thousands of proteins that bind DNA, yet comprehensively mapping these is challenging. Our paper in Nature Genetics describes ChIP-DIP, a method for genome-wide mapping of hundreds of DNA-protein interactions in a single experiment.
