Let me try this again:

I don't get why the switch from Aegis to OOONA precluded using their old font, as any device running their player or app has more than enough performance & storage to have that font downloaded to use it for soft-subs in real time, as 20-year-old PCs/Macs could do that.

You exaggerate a bit, yet this also applies to so much tourist travel. So many only see curated downtowns with lists of historical sites, or only eat where the Michelin Guide tells them, etc. Meanwhile, there could be amazing places to see & stay barely off of that well-worn, heavily beaten path.

oh yeah, the community argument is probably just plain wrong. they're shipping the download carts because of how it makes dev "manageable." if they could do that & ship full game carts for higher prices, of course they would, so again, I bet complete editions in the coming years will happen as such.

If I'm going to be too kind, they are, at best, very technically-oriented people who are most comfortable in a focused R&D group, buried in a larger organization with everything public handled by strong communicators with some tech background. They were not ready now, perhaps ever, to be the face.

I hear and see your concerns. Over the weekend, a couple users hosted on Blacksky's PDS were banned from the Bluesky app and thus the Bluesky API servers. This was a weakness of our system I've been aware of and hoped we had more time to address before any kind of public incident. 1/11
