My favorite fact about ctenophores is that they evolved their nervous system completely independently of other animals. They don't have serotonin or dopamine receptors at all and use L-glutamate as their main neurotransmitter

New data suggest the Guadalupe fur seal have expanded their range beyond Guadalupe Island due to population growth. They're being sighted in California waters in record numbers and the population is projected to grow about 9% a year going forward 🦑🧪

I never understand complaining about small talk until I hear someone who's actually off the deep end with it. these people behind me on the bus are just breathlessly describing every meal they ate over the past week to each other. dreadful stuff
