I set out to just make a rough dimensional model of the original famicom eject mechanism so I could proceed to redesign it to fit over those boards with sockets, and well... I guess I accidentally fully cloned it lol

Was this box designed by AI or something? Wtf is that tab even meant to do.

After adjusting to match an old tape I had with known good alignment, this is the nice and fairly-clean waveform I'm getting. It's a little wobbly but really not bad at all given the age/condition of both the tape and the camera.

And here's how rigid it is after the fix. I had to redo it after this actually because I didn't leave the loctite long enough to set, but that's not important.
January 13, 2026 at 3:01 AM
With some loctite and pain I was able to fix it well enough for now, idk if it'll hold long term. Also signs of disintegrated / totally gooified rubber in the middle so I shoved heat shrink tube in there and scrubbed the sticky paint(?) off this clip. It was too fiddly to get any other photos.

Oh yeah my cool camcorder kinda fell apart... these posts aren't supposed to wobble freely like this. The threaded bits they screw onto are just press-fit in the carriage and apparently got loose, and fell out as soon as I tried to adjust anything.

A bit rough but this should work

I made an RF breakout/amplifier for Panasonic VHS-C camcorders so I can hook it straight to my cxadc/vhs-decode setup. Got the gain calculation wrong but I'm working on it. With camera power it's a bit limited but there's the option to use external power (e.g. a 9V battery) too.

Finally went and spent [probably too much] on one of these weird nonstandard SRAM cards so I can eventually build clones of them for no particular reason

Well I accidentally stumbled into this screen in Quartus II so I guess I know what the true orientation is now. Basing all further work (and rework) on this, which is basically just swapping the X and Y coords, relative to top left.

I took a whole load of bitstreams I could find for this chip (C-One and MiST projects) and combined them so I can see all the RAM blocks at once and map out their exact locations.

Visualized an FPGA bitstream and a cool picture kinda just fell out. Wasn't expecting to see the physical layout of the chip so easily.

I wonder if this is important data

Inspired by this that a friend shared, and the oven copypasta.

More handwritten assembly shoving bit values into CPU-reachable area that shows up in the debug view (and invalidating the cache etc...) has let me check a few individual values I was concerned about. I think I've pretty much got it!

Not quite what I was going for but I think I can work with this.

and here's how it looks at normal zoom.

ebay's search box styling is trying to use helvetica but for some reason the only variant of helvetica on my system is "helvetica ultra compressed extra bold".... so this is how it looks.
