Investments at Sunshine Station to enable Airport Rail and future Melton electrification are very welcome, but it’s concerning to hear that the project might sever a crucial freight link.

We need more freight on rail, so Labor must ensure we have the infrastructure to enable it.

Great to be out in Prahran yesterday, talking with the community about the issues that matter most to them. Thank you to everyone who took time to chat with us!

Labor's support for coal and gas ends up costing us all.

We need to build, not demolish public housing and urgently introduce rent controls.

Meanwhile, Labor's solution to the housing crisis is to demolish all the public housing towers in the state and lock renters into unlimited rent increases.

And their 5% deposit scheme will be sure to send house prices skyrocketing and lock first home buyers into debt they can't afford.

The number of applications for public and community housing is up by 7% in the last year.

80% of landlords raised the rent in the past two years with an average increase of 17%.

This has gotten seriously out of control - for all of Labor’s big numbers and big announcements, their response to the housing crisis has done nothing but line the pockets of property developers and push more and more people into housing stress and homelessness.

Did you know the biggest shareholders of the big 4 banks are 2 multi-trillion $ American investment companies, Blackrock & Vanguard? These companies are individually worth 10x the GDP of Australia - an unfathomable amount of money.
Tile decorated with images of the tops of skyscrapers with the Big 4 bank logos, and money. Also a vomiting emoji in the top right. Text reading "Where do big bank profits go?" and below this "Your loan repayments". Tile with text reading "Major [big 4 bank logos] shareholders:
[BlackRock's logo] is worth $12.5 trillion, [Vanguard's logo] is worth $11 trillion.
Australia's entire GDP is 1.8 trillion btw..."

It was devastating to visit the spot where a young cyclist was killed in Kensington on Monday.

My heart goes out to this man's family.

People shouldn't have to risk their lives just to get around the city on their bike. We need safer bike lanes right across our city.
katcopseygreens.bsky.social
Cycling is a cheap way to get around, and it reduces congestion and carbon emissions - a win for everyone.

I recently raised some of the City of Boroondara's cycling priorities with the Minister - hopefully the different levels of government can work together to provide quality links.

Commissioner Brereton told the public and parliament that his position with Defence was entirely honourary, now we know that is not true, that he is part of a chain of advice to Ministers and Defence.

Apologies! Looks like they were only open to a limited group - should be fully open now :)

You struggle to pay the bills, while the big 4 banks make obscene profits

The system works for the billionaire banks because it’s rigged by the banks. And the major parties let them get away with it

The Greens want to tax the billionaire banks to pay for the things we all need

If you have a mortgage of $570,000 the banks pocket over $200,000 as pure profit over the course of your loan.
That's the equivalent of 35% of your loan."

2 years and this plan still doesn’t add up.

A massive movement is building to stop the demolition and privatisation of all the public housing towers in Melbourne.

Want to get involved? Send me a DM for more info.

The Yallourn coal plant is not only a huge polluter, it’s increasingly unreliable. So why are the Victorian Labor government spending taxpayer dollars to prop it up, rather than replacing it with clean, reliable renewables?
katcopseygreens.bsky.social
Continuing to throw money at failed Carbon Capture & Storage just entrenches more fossil fuels, and locks in a future of devastating climate impacts - floods, fires & 50 degree days.

That money would be better spent building out renewables, and electrifying our homes & industry.

The recognition of Palestine is a victory for the many Australians who have been calling for this, but will not end the genocide in Gaza. The Albanese Government must now sanction Israel for its criminal actions the way it has sanctioned Russia for its invasion of Ukraine.

People voted for climate action, and Labor is squandering the opportunity to make that happen.

This could be the parliament where we take ambitious action – we have the numbers.

We say again to the government: don’t make climate delay your legacy, have some ambition.

The government says from 2035 to 2050, the biggest absolute cuts in emissions across all sectors will come from transport. But gov stats show that from 2005, transport emissions have just continued to grow. How's this going to work?
4. Electric vehicles dominate emissions cuts in transport, but we will also need new fuels
The transport sector is the third-largest in terms of emissions, but transport emissions have been consistently creeping up ever since emissions have been measured.

According to advice from the CCA, half of the light vehicles sold between now and 2035 will need to be electric vehicles.

From 2035 to 2050, the biggest absolute cuts in emissions across all sectors will come from transport, according to the net zero plan, falling by more than half between 2035 and 2050. shart showing % change in emissions by sector since 2005. transport grows consistently except for a dip during the covid pandemic
