When I first glanced at your post, I sincerely wondered whether withnoghjng was, like, some kind of Korean food.

I'm curious what specific examples of teen films and youth culture you studied

(Sorry if it's weird that I put the course titles in quotes. I now work as an editor for the magazine and website of the college I graduated from, and that's part of our house style; it feels wrong to me *not* to format course titles that way. 😄)

I remembered the arrow-through-the-head part of her monologue but had forgotten the ~scary story~ until just now. It's well worth a watch.

one thing the podcast can't entirely convey is that michael sent me a screenshot of cristin milioti, proudly said "that's sarah silverman!" and at the bottom of the screenshot there was a search bar that said "satah silceeman"

I've always had strong, stable letter-color and number-color associations, too. (Also letter-gender associations, but I think, for me at least, those are more consciously learned than neurologically wired.)

But I hope to pick the discussion up again in two weeks.

We ran out of time before I got to say even half of what I wanted to say about the show, vis-à-vis the emotional landscape of my own life.

As a Freudian psychologist, she was inclined to focus on the interplay between masculinity, athletics, aggression, and sex. Fair enough: there’s a lot there!

She hadn’t even heard of it; I had to do a lot of explaining. But she’s used to that, as most of our discussions involve me describing memes and pop-cultural stuff to her.

One time I had a dream that I took my night guard out of my mouth. When I woke up, hours later, I was actually holding it in my hand.

(I wouldn't have answered this if I didn't have such a good answer.)

S1.E34: "The After Hours"

Another classic! I'd remembered the ending but not how effectively creepy this episode is throughout. All about liminal spaces and times: between open hours and night shift, between human and nonhuman, between losing and regaining one's grip on different realities.

By day, he is Little Kid.

By night, he is Nightboy: Boy of the Night.
