Even if you agree with Schumer that voting for cloture was the lesser of two evils, he handled this with such total ineptitude, in a way that could not have angered and demoralized Democratic voters more if it had been designed to, that it's impossible to justify his leadership role.>

FYI…
DOGE recommended firing workers at:

-FDA, which oversees Neuralink

-FAA, which oversees SpaceX

-USAID, which probed Starlink

-CFPB, which oversees Tesla's financing arm and a potential payment platform on X.

"Conflict of interest" is a severe understatement.

Stop what you’re doing and read this.
Having watched with growing alarm the developments of the last 24 and 36 hours in Washington, I thought I’d take a stab at how the US media would cover this story if it was happening in a foreign country. Here’s that story that should be written this weekend: www.doomsdayscenario.co/p/musk-s-jun...

Imagining how we'd cover overseas what's happening to the U.S. right now

This week has been crazy.

Next week week will be crazy.

I'm taking the weekend off.

No politics.

No social media.

No news.

And here is an official permission slip for any that needs to take time off.

Pass it on.

I found the first hour of the Bob Dylan biopic, "A Complete Unknown," to be nearly unwatchable.

It's hard to watch a movie when your eyes are filled with tears of joy. (1/?)

A Complete Unknown: full assessment later. Liked it a lot. More stylistically interesting than I expected based on JM’s last musical biopic. A good close-ups movie; narrative is communicated by watching the wheels turn in people’s eyes.

Also: I think the kid might win the Oscar.

“Don’t feed the trolls” also extends to bad opinion pieces in papers of record.

They run them bc people react to them the most.

If we stop linking to bad columns and instead post thinkers we find valuable (& generate convo around it), incentives change.

It’s not easy and takes constant practice!

Good advice to everyone on BlueSky
You can voice your opinion about Kash Patel without retweeting DT. PLEASE do not turn BlueSky into Twitter/X by continually retweeting him. Let’s not become a garbage dump for Truth Social. Just state your viewpoint without platforming him. Thanks.

Just saw Steve McQueen's Blitz and it's kind of astonishing: Part classical WWII perseverance melodrama, part kids' Dickensian picaresque escapade, and part fierce upending of the cliches of both of those genres. You might not love it, but it's a wholly idiosyncratic film that only he could've made.

When you choose someone unfit and without relevant experience like Matt Whittaker to be America’s NATO ambassador, you’re not just saying you don’t care about NATO. You’re making America increasingly small. You’re making America a laughingstock in the world. That’s what Trump is doing.
