I have canoed and swum in this formerly beautiful river. I wouldn't now.

I heartily agree. The complete lack of a sense of proportion is so irritating. See also rehashed press releases about "carbon absorbing paint" or somesuch .

Just take a step back and ask yourself where this sits in the grand scheme of things guys!

What a shame about your ma. Once the quads (aka "getting up off the loo muscle" goes, independence goes with it 😬. Props to MiL though, tennis in particular is excellent for the skeleton I believe 👍

Oh, and please tell any women in your life from me: take up strength training NOW! Wish I'd started 20 years ago 💪💪

Yeah but it's quorn!! I eat organic chicken when I can find it, and quite a lot of small fish (bones and all, so calcium, plus healthy oils as well). But some dairy too I'm afraid.

Generally a sound approach, but having now broken three bones since I turned 60, I would add that all women in the second half of life need to make sure we are getting enough protein. Yes of course you can get protein from veg, but I do find adding animal products makes it easier.

"Eat less meat, and more beans, nuts and vegetables — especially if you live in the rich world. The shift could prevent about 15 million premature deaths a year globally and cut farm emissions by 15%."
Eat Less Meat Is Still the Message From Flagship Diet Report
The authors say plant-heavy diets could save millions of lives and cut farm emissions, claims the meat industry has sought to undermine.

Migrants, and the children of migrants, have been caring for my 92-year-old Mum after a nasty fracture and helping her back to independence, this past 6 weeks. Where we would be as a family without them, God only knows. We thank each and every one of them from the bottom of our hearts ❤️
paulbernal.bsky.social
Anyone who really knows migrants knows this. We know how hard it is to move to another country, and how much commitment and heartache it takes.
danielsohege.bsky.social
Migrants already "earn the right to settlement" through extortionate visa costs, which can run into tens of thousands of pounds. They prop up key services, including through the Immigration Health Surcharge.

Pushing the hostile environment on steroids helps no-one.

If she does this, the gap between her policy and Farage's will narrow considerably. Retrospective legislation is the choice of tinpot dictators and intellectual vegetables. It means no-one could take Britain's word seriously.

The Home Secretary is understood to be considering applying the policy to deal with concerns about the so-called ‘Boriswave'.

The stained glass there is lovely - visited as a young girl, never forgotten 😍

Aha - I'm very much 🌲🌳⛰️⛰️🌳🌲🌳🌲

That's kind ❤️. Going to check out some reviews and the coverage, as in a rural hilly area there are a lot of "shadows" but if they operate well round here I might just take up your offer 🙏🙏
katedes.bsky.social
Thank you 👍. Never heard of them - but I'll have a look. The jet-powered spray of enshittification directed at me by Three this afternoon has left me quite broken 😬😬😅
katedes.bsky.social
And if you say "Three", I have some very bad news for you....

I daresay there is no such thing but if anyone can recommend a mobile provider that can do *anything* in less than 40 minutes of inaudible noisy call centre communication (no I cannot access my account online that is what I was trying to sort out 😭😭😭)

Health and science reporters should lead the coverage of all these health-related conspiracy theories & newsroom leaders should keep their both-sides political reporters out of their way.

There should be a high bar for politicians attacking the media, but maybe Ed Davey has half a point here?

For example, the first three paragraphs of this BBC story repeat Reform's £243bn figure without saying that the thinktank behind the estimate now disowns it. (This is mentioned in paragraph 35)

“Some say”, “controversial”, “experts disagree”. Just say they’re talking bollocks, man, the world is ending and we haven’t got time for this
