I'm all in favour of fanfic authors being able to make money

But I really wish it wasn't all Reylo and Dramione

1. Good girl / bad boy is really boring
2. Unless the writer is *really* good, filing the serial numbers off leaves it hopelessly bland

Hello!

The Isle in the Silver Sea - Tasha Suri

It's narrativium and the power of stories, literalising how a nation's stories are also a means of social control

But this time the knight and the witch who are meant to die tragically together are both women, and they're working for a better ending

Hope this helps? Let me know if not

For the head, start with a square, sew D to D. Then do some darts like F to give the shape of the back of the head

Leave E open to join to the body

Cool!

Here's a diagram

For the tail, start with a long rectangle and cut it diagonally along the dotted line to give two triangles

Then turn it around so both A are on the same end. Sew B to B and C to C, leave A open to join to the body

Oh sure that's fine, which stage are you at?

Also: this is very exciting!

It's done very well. Like, I know where it's going but I'm enjoying the ride

Hi! The Irresistible Urge to Fall For Your Enemy by Brigitte Knightley, which is a fantasy version of a bantery romcom

He is an amoral charming git from the assassin gang, with an incurable disease. She is the best healer from the school of do-gooders, bribed and intrigued to research cures on him

I have now read it, I found it fine, not horrible but not spectacular

Nowhere near my favourite book by that author but that's a very high bar

He and his sister Kiri were named for their loud mews!

There's a copy in my mum's Christmas stocking!

Bonus: she has a fluffy ginger cat called Caruso, after the singer

Someone my age could easily be the grandmother of a 10 year old, without any teen pregnancies even

And Pink Floyd had recorded three albums before I was born

I have a First in English and an MA in Medieval Studies and would still have to take a wild stab

(I specialised in late medieval but that just illustrates how silly it is. Ask 20 people at the pub and half of them won't have heard of it)

If they aren’t a registered charity and they aren’t registered with the Fundraising Regulator (example logo below), it’s probably one of these scammy orgs where the ‘profit’ is a tiny fraction of the money you handed over and some bastard gets rich on your good intentions. Give to a real charity.

Oh no if it's the one I'm thinking of, third in a series?

I get that with paintings

I can't paint, why the hell did I think I could do this, etc

Proof of cats

Neither of them can read but if they could I am sure they would be fans

Morning,

I'm reading The Everlasting by Alix E Harrow, which I have been really looking forward to

Lady knight! The cost of heroism! Myth making! Time shenanigans!

Not taking anything away from @cstross.bsky.social 's no doubt great triumph here

But also not at all surprised by the white male dominance of Andreessen's taste

Hello!

Just started Son of the Morning by Akwaeke Emezi, a paranormal romance / romantasy / southern gothic

Galilee, superpowered daughter of a matriarchal Black family in the deep south US, meets Lucifer, apparently the enforcer for a crime boss, but actually actual Lucifer...
