We stand up for the vulnerable, not because they will eventually come for us — make no mistake, they will — but because it is the right thing to do.

Exercise is great for you for a whole host of reasons. Just not weight loss. A 5k run = one piece of toast.

At some point we are going to consider GLP1 drugs in the same way we think about insulin — a necessary life-long chemical corrective for a specific imbalance.

Does not work at all because exercise does not do anything for weight loss — it’s a myth

£12 billion when you factor in stamp duty.

Good to see the Conservative Party committed to keeping the deficit down by *checks notes* spending £2 billion giving tax breaks for private education, creating a massive new deportation force and pledging to maintain pensioner benefits.

Still I'm sure it'll be fine. It's not like those expectations are based on a completely unproven product with deranged costs and hysterical levels of hype.

I do pilates and cycle, run, and swim now. Thinking of starting kung fu lessons. At a certain point it’s really positive for your physical and mental health to be active and strong. I just hate competing with anyone other than myself

I was actually captain of the girls basketball team and not bad at cross-country running, but I was shit at PE.

Marie I absolutely love this. Have subscribed to the newsletter.

Met my son's PE teacher yesterday at a school event. Her eyes glazed over politely at mention of his name.

Let's just say he takes after his mother. In year 9 I actually failed PE.

Been to the youngest’s harvest assembly.
Theory: every primary school built pre about 1980 in Britain has some version of this equipment. It is referred to as something like ‘the apparatus’.
No one has any memory of it ever being used.

We have built a society in which people of different skin tones, religious backgrounds & cultures get along, share power, work alongside each other, procreate with each other, recognise the each other’s humanity and democratic rights. It is a STUNNING ACHIEVEMENT OF WORLD HISTORIC PROPORTIONS.

I know statistics are poorly understood and are misused. But facts matter

Between the 1991, 2001, 2011 and 2021 Census *every* ethnic group in the UK has become *less* geographically segregated and *all* groups, majority and minorities, are more likely to interact with people not like them

Calling English a 'rip-off degree' is one of the most blatant exhibitions of personal barbarism I've ever seen. You've demonstrated nothing but the poverty of your own mind.

My sense of this is that he does not do primary historical research in this area himself. It’s very difficult to put forth the arguments he does if one has actually worked in the primary sources. Perhaps I have misunderstood his methods.

So since I'm annoyed let me say a few things today. Some folks have been writing about Christian Nationalism and apocalyptic right wing movements for YEARS here in the US. YEARS. Do we get to have a platform in major mags and newspapers... rarely.

My husband is from a working class background, but it drives me nuts when he tells our child that we — a Cambridge professor and a KCL professor with clergy ancestors back as far as the eye can see — ARE working class. (He has a technical point in that we don’t own the means of production 🙄 but ffs)

I agree with every word Zelda Williams says. And this at the end from OpenAI makes me want to go full Ned Ludd. Creators can’t have a blanket opt-out on copyright infringement of their work and have to fill out a form appealing to OpenAI’s mercy every time? Fuck off into the sun
OpenAI told the Guardian that content owners can flag copyright infringement using a “copyright disputes form” but that individual artists or studios cannot have a blanket opt-out. Varun Shetty, OpenAI’s head of media partnerships, said: “We’ll work with rights holders to block characters from Sora at their request and respond to takedown requests.”
