This is the photograph I worked from. The model resides at the Science Museum in London (object 1991-286/1) and was made in about 1967 to show the structure of pig insulin at a resolution of 2.8 Å.

I found it when researching her bio when I recently made her portrait. I like including a scientist’s own work/diagrams but insulin is too complicated for me to carve, so instead I looked to a stylized version of it.

Thanks! Yes, the left part is a plan of a castle! Great idea re making a game. I'm going to do RPG-style updates for the launch party - "there's a deadly bacteria on the loose, where do you hide?" and then get ppl to choose a castle. We'll see what it evolves into (literally!)
