Annual reminder that without literary translators, most Nobel Prize-winning authors couldn’t be read by the committee/readers, so celebrate them too. Congrats @ottiliemulzet.bsky.social et al! This isn’t taking away from the author, it’s adding recognition of the miracle/labour/skill of translation.

And that's really one of the biggest issues I have with AI: it trivializes everything and turns it into “content” that is “good enough,” turning everything into a worthless mush; just stuff to fill our (work)days. AI killed everyone's capacity to care about anything but the bottom line...

Tired of people seeing those of us opposed to AI as old-fashioned tech haters. There's nothing wrong with tech that supports your work, but there's everything wrong with tech that doesn't really help you, is replacing whole industries with low-quality clones and is damaging to the environment.
