More than 15 years ago Irfan had the genius idea that peroxisomes somehow could short-circuit anabolism to catabolism to drive thermogenesis. Incredible to see his work evolve over the years. Amazing work from his super best friends (former Clay postdoc clan).

Yesterday was a special day, our first bona fide human muscle biopsy. Not piggybacked, strictly recruited to our study that we wrote our own IRB for. There were so many roadblocks, but we regrouped, made changes, refinanced, and lots of apologizing and begging and waiting. I will never forget this.
