Just heard someone say that if you aren't willing to get arrested or die at a protest you aren't serious about the cause and that's a) not true and b) not helpful

You don't need to have a death wish to fight for a better world, and anyone who says you do is throwing up a massive red flag

god yes, dirty martinis are a significantly worse than regular martinis

my favorite is the perfect martini (which has both sweet and dry vermouth) but I rarely order it because if the bartender isn't a cocktail person they think I'm asking for my drink to be "perfect", which is a no fun ask

The neoterics are so much fun! You really get a sense from Catullus' poetry that they were just a bunch of guys who enjoyed hanging out together and razzing each other (in incredibly filthy and personal ways). But also, Catullus could perfectly describe subtle and evanescent feelings of affection.

a couple of years ago I was at a music festival and I had a gap in my schedule so I decided to take a chance on an artist who I'd never heard of and knew nothing about, other than the genre listed on the schedule was "experimental"

Also, the T-34 was a much better tank than anything produced by Germany or Japan (or the US or Britain, for that matter).

All that said, I think his bigger point is true, the Germans didn’t have a marked technological disadvantage.
