This is an obvious point, but cannot overstated. There is an enormous difference between deporting someone - where they get off a plane as a free citizen in their home country AND FUNNELING THEM INTO A BRUTAL PRISON FROM WHICH THEY HAVE NO CHANCE OF EVER EMERGING!!!

This is an obvious point, but cannot overstated. There is an enormous difference between deporting someone - where they get off a plane as a free citizen in their home country AND FUNNELING THEM INTO A BRUTAL PRISON FROM WHICH THEY HAVE NO CHANCE OF EVER EMERGING!!!

The fundamental legal reason immigrants can be expelled with few protections (no Gideon right to an attorney, less due process, etc.) is that deportation and removal are considered "regulatory" and not "punitive" actions. That distinction collapses when they are sent directly to a prison.

If Trump is as strong and powerful and good of a negotiator as he says he is, why can’t he get one teensy tiny man back from a country he’s paying lots of money to? Like it should be easier than my yearly negotiation for cheap Sirius radio for a masterful deal maker like him.
