Views Of The Streetcar creator. Pop your bubble, leave the binary, engage uncomfortably.

The womens soccer fandom is special, a throwback to a bygone era. like it exists in a pre-corporatized internet, so many people engaging with it deeply for no other reason than for the love of the game. So I threw my hat in the ring.
#KCCurrent Fans and #NWSL Fans - Are you missing the season as much as me?

just found a super old YouTube video of this indie singer I like playing at some party, less than 1000 views. halfway through Larry David pops up in the background, entering the party

if that isn’t the most Larry David thing ever

One of my favorite podcast eps ever: “Fuck Everything, We’re Doing Five Blades” by Decoder Ring. The study of what giant companies do when their product is perfectly fine as is but they MUST KEEP INNOVATING
Was just reading an article the other day about how things used to be made to last and in the past 20 years or so that has changed to things being made to NOT last so we keep buying them.

Again, so many people’s lack of effort into themselves is predicated on a belief that they’re victims of society which means that nothing is their own fault.
"oh no this isn't reflected in the statistics of course. but people felt very anxious. so the economy must have been bad"

This isn't a zoomer thing, this is an "everyone who has not made substantial progress towards self-actualization" thing

and that's a lot of people
literally so much Gen Z “politics” feels like it’s “I deserve to buy material goods after every hard day, I want to work less and consume more”

DoorDash discourse is a classic example of false binary thinking that so many fall into.

There are so many middle grounds between “order food delivery regularly” and “cook all your own food”

growing up when my mom didn’t feel like cooking we just had canned soup or Chef Boyardee and were fine

This part!!!
Certain political worldviews and/or online personas require believing that you are personally experiencing insurmountable hardship. Can't justify angrily lashing out otherwise.

As a behavioral phenomenon, it's kind of interesting. Interacting with it, less so.

Even weirder is the “first time going to X, what do I need to know in advance??” trend. Why would you deprive yourself of the joys of experiencing something with your own eyes for the first time??
One of the worst things the internet has brought is how I’ve seen so many people who can’t go into a piece of media without someone else’s “well articulated” opinion given to them. It feels like “enjoyment min-maxing”

“What should I know before going in?” Shut up and form your own opinions for once

Wade Keller’s post-show was one of the most well articulated critiques of the AEW product I’ve ever heard. Avoided all the bad faith criticism that the “AEW sucks” cottage industry loves and spelling out the issues. So many IWC vets have the same tone, want them to succeed but just exasperated.

AEW’s general trajectory has been like watching a TEW save in real time.

Its peak creatively was when they had one two hour show, one midcard belt, and everyone mattered.

Wrestling is still fantastic but it’s just too unfocused and complicated for its own good, deters the casual fan away

In exactly 238 minutes someone in a $400,000 house will quip “was that a firework or a gunshot”???

feels like 10% of all BlueSky content is “X sucks I’m so glad I’m here”

Daniel Garcia is my favorite #AEW wrestler and it’s great to see him get his first title run, but as someone who’s primarily in it to see these guys go on their journeys, I’m still so disappointed in how his push has gone.

Biggest glow up for me this year was in how I hold meetings.

Amazing how much more productivity one can get out of 30 minutes when everyone knows what will be discussed and comes prepared with thoughts.

If you’re not “naturally” process oriented, sit under the learning tree of those who are

Every fandom has been deeply affected by the social media monster that has us all addicted more to arguing, tribalism, and hot takes ABOUT the thing vs. engaging WITH the thing.
Ok does anyone else feel like one reason people find media less enjoyable/good these days is actually that we enjoyed media more in the past because we were collectively more hyped about it

Actually shocking how much political content on this platform is “Trump is bad and I am morally superior and smarter for seeing and calling that out”

it’s true, yes, but the liberal “can you believe all these idiots are such idiots unlike me” elitist attitude led the dems to lose ground everywhere
