Reads a lot, former roadie/library guy/sometime book reviewer.

I like baseball, novels, baseball novels and, currently, James Robinson's Starman. I enjoy watching sport and I listen to all the podcasts. All of them.
At the ice hockey. Glasgow got hammered, but it was still fun.

Saw Fantastic Four the other day, and I like it more and more considering how badly it could have gone.
(For evidence of 'how badly it could have gone', see every other Fantastic Four film).

I gave blood on Thursday afternoon. It's barely a scratch today, and I feel fine too.
Thanks to #scotblood for a very smooth process.

This is an excellent, fascinating thread, if you're looking for a longish read. (It's 200 plus posts).
33 years ago, on 23rd May 1992, Giovanni Falcone is assassinated, along with Francesca Morvillo, Vito Schifani, Rocco Dicillo and Antonio Montinaro. This thread tells the story of how he is undermined, isolated and abandoned to his destiny by the state he so loyally serves >> 1

Tried to feed the ducks yesterday. The ducks were not interested. So, essentially, I was just throwing a loaf of brown bread into a pond.

A Complete Unknown is pretty good, but even though I'm not a huge Bob fan, it was full of stuff where I thought "didn't happen".

Conclave was pretty good. The final twist seemed a bit bolted on, but it wasn't a big deal.

Five authors of whom I've read 10+ books:

Iain Banks
Elmore Leonard
Yukio Mishima
Terry Pratchett
Philip Roth

All no longer with us, alas. Somewhere in the afterlife they could all be collaborating on a book together, and it'll be awful because their styles are ridiculously different.

Sadly closed now. Admittedly I hadn't been in in years.
Still, fond memories of buying a book there about how to pickpocket people 'for fun and profit'.

Just left Gladiator 2, and some guy coming out behind me loudly said "That wasn't a patch on the first one!"
So, y'know, temper your expectations if you feel you're like that random guy.

I've had quite the charity shop book haul lately - behold every Iain M Banks book, emphasis on the 'M', for about £15.
