I'm sorry, but "they took over the whole federal payments system, fired the career staff, and won't let anybody see what they're doing" is not a situation in which you wait for more information. It's a situation in which you assume the worst. There's no explanation for it other than rampant crimes.

The reason they wanted the Lakin Riley act so badly is because being undocumented is a civil offense and not an actual crime. They wanted even the ACCUSATION of shoplifting to make them "criminals." A government shutdown over the holidays would mean no government employees, including troops and people who service Social Security et al, will be paid. Parks will close. Could be chaos w/in TSA/crucial transit functions. Consumers will spend less. Just insanity.

The Department of Government Efficiency apparently has no issue with RFK Jr's Department of Health and Human Services investigating the vaccine autism link, which is maybe one of the most studied things in medicine in the last 20 years. Doesn't sound efficient nor fiscally conservative
