The past few days I've been watching a history of the Castlevania series. And I've learned that the only Castlevania I've played is one of the most hated and "isn't canon."

It was the werewolf one. :P

Damn. This is amazing. £325 per week, paid monthly, for 3 years - and the result was a profit for the Irish economy:

Post from Threads user rodneyowl: "Ireland has declared the Basic Income for Artists scheme permanent. This will be officially announced in tomorrow’s budget. Details to follow. Congratulations to all who fought for it and the present and future artists of all sorts in Ireland. That includes me 👌We’re just comin to the end of a 3 year pilot scheme. It’s been a roaring success. For every €1 paid out to the 2000 participants, the government got €1.46 back. Can’t argue with that. Other countries are already taking note."

I regret to inform you that the delightful frog person who made federal troops back down was then assaulted and the pigs sprayed pepper spray into the frog suit’s ventilation

youtu.be/0NyeK_Vi0Kc?... As someone who mainly wants to buy a place so my walls can be blue instead of white or grey, this was a very interesting video
why millennials were forced to like this colour

Bluesky deleted my post complaining about the CEO lol. I did not delete it myself! Full on Lowtaxing from Jay here.

I had to think for awhile because I usually try to check out stuff that is very well known, so I have a reference point.

But Lost and until Skip intro showed it some episodes on his live streams, the West Wing.

Inspired by a post I just saw in which someone admitted they hadn’t seen a single episode of Friends nor the film Love Actually… what cultural hole do you have that’s a bit weird for your generation?

I’ll go first: I haven’t seen Dirty Dancing.

Like a lot of the types of stories are also the kind that get dismissed as chick lit BUT chick lit is a thing because it sells/women like it

There is no graphic novels equivalent of The Sisterhood of Traveling Pants or an equivalent of Sex in the City or for something more recent Hacks etc etc.

The closest you get are graphic memoirs.

family problems, school problems, life in general. And NOT science fiction or fantasy.

But if you look at adult graphic novels they are all genre fiction (mostly aimed at men). So those readers aren’t reading comics as an adult because it isn’t giving them the stories they want.
kelmcdonald.bsky.social
So we have a lot of graphic novels being sold to middle school (8-12) or young adults (teens). And comics frequently discuss why those teens don’t continue to read comics as adults.

My point is these discussions frequently forget that a lot of those graphic novels are about..

MG = middle grade
YA= young adult
SFF= science fiction fantasy
GN = graphics novels
