It would be interesting to compare the corporate, opaque models to the open-source, narrow and transparent ones discussed in this post.

I do kind of feel like the lack of specific disclosures from the company providing the service should be more of a concern.

hasn't optical image recognition for handwritten numbers existed for many, many years? Is this a major improvement, and is it worth the significant increase in energy consumption for generalised chatbot models as opposed to narrow machine learning tools?

Haven't gotten deep into PT politics here in Oslo but the impression I get is that the private company operating the buses cannot be bothered paying for proper training for the poor bus drivers, nor for good planning / communication when lines are shut down

This is *exactly* why Amazon funds these bodies, and how these big funding $$ become a shocking control and influence mechanism.

They've been on this for carbon offsets for a while now: the Bezos Earth Foundation threatened to defund the climate target analysis group SBTi if they didn't grant happy ticks of approval to heavy use of carbon offsets in climate plans (and eventually did withdraw their funding)
Amazon Dime: Selling the climate short with carbon credits - Carbon Market Watch

It specifically took me a pretty huge amount of time to research that section, going quite deep into media records and hunting down deleted clips using Wayback etc.

So it's sort of wild to see the guy who often derides activists as lazy and/or unqualified leaning on the plagiarism / fakery machine

So I think this is actually where ChatGPT is directly drawing on my book, because I don't think anyone has ever actually done a collation of blackouts + renewable energy attribution for Aus......ever?

It was blamed on RE but as you say it was just Vic!
