Never mind, we go again

If you were waiting for the constitutional crisis moment, here you go.
Time to rise up and do something.
I’ve done my bit, I posted this on bluesky, so now it’s your turn. Form a militia or whatever it is. Just remember who told you to do it when the history books come a-knocking.

Is this satire?

I went to see One Self on Wednesday at the Jazz Cafe. It was really good. Not enough space here to talk about it so join me in the Alt text
The picture is the cover of One Self’s album.

Anyway it was a bit quiet at first but meant I could sit at the back and still see the stage during the support acts. Also their mics were way lower than the bass in the music which was fine for the girl singing but the second girl rapping I couldn’t really hear anything she was saying. A shame.
BluRum13 fixed the sound within seconds of being on stage but then it turned out Yarah Bravo was ill and there was a replacement. Gutting because her voice is so unique and she’s a huge part of why One Self were so cool, thought I might leave early.
I ended up staying for the whole 90 minute show, it was great- they played everything you’d want to hear and some new stuff, Killa Kela came out to beat box and blow minds like it was 2005 and I just had a great time.
Also the smaller crowd meant that when people were chatting or flipping their hair in my face I could just walk calmly away from them to another spot in the crowd.

I really hope they do another show with Yarah there though, I will definitely go

One of your best chances to see a virgin on-screen
You see this guy wrote an article about that AI actress and the subheading has “if you wanted to see a virgin on-screen this is one of your better chances”
And then I looked him up and I was like “great joke here, he looks like some kind of nerd virgin”

But honestly? Being a virgin is fine. Looking nerdy is ok. I’m just making a cheap joke here about his daft article and maybe it will get a laugh and a like or do but let’s try not to shame people. This guy can get shamed though, he seems like a twat.

My personal timeline is full of autistic people trying to explain that there isn't more autism than before, it's just that we're better at detecting it, and there's nothing more autistic than hoping explaining something at length will help matters when nobody is really listening.

Spent the last decade reading conservative blogs use the word "Orwellian" more than they used the word "the" and now they're literally just saying "War is Peace" out loud in front of everybody.

Hegseth: "As history teaches us, the only people who actually deserve peace and those who are willing to wage war to defend it. That's why pacifism is so naive and dangerous."

I can’t beat the final boss in Stellar Blade so I’ll never see these. It’s a fun game that I really liked up to that point and then it was BULLSHIT

Sorry, just remembered a post on this godawful website where someone was saying reading books is the only thing that can install empathy in kids and I was like “you fucking mad?”
And it’s clear that they just like books more than other creative mediums and had a snobbery about it

I’m slowly getting back into reading prose but comics are just my jam.
Prose can feel exhausting
Even a dialogue heavy comic can feel like a slog

I have mental health issues, mind. If you like boring old books goooood for youuuuu

Well done. I bet you’re like this: “oh, I devoured his latest”

I cannot tell you how many parents I met across the last few events who said that comics started their kids reading. Just comics. It’s the one thing that worked. 🫡

I’m just humbly suggesting that, should the publishing industry want to tackle the crisis in reading for pleasure rates, and we have research suggesting that there’s no crisis in reading for pleasure rates amongst children who read comics, that there’s maybe a relatively simple solution right here.

Sending so many positive vibes to the one boy at the 150+ strong K-Pop Demon Hunters dance workshop I just dropped my daughter off at. He had his Hunter/x t-shirt on, he was as psyched as everyone else. Embracing what you love is always a great look.

But I do recommend getting a book because look at this. You can sit in a pub and have a pint and not look at your phone, just chill out and do a crossword and feel ADORABLE. Imagine seeing this guy with his pint and his puzzles. You can be that guy.
Puzzle and a pint.
Yes, I absolutely gendered this post and I didn’t have to but fuck it, it’s fine, you get what I mean

The Guardian Quick Cryptic ones are very good for beginners and today’s I found very easy. Then maybe try the Quiptics once you get a feel for them. Or I get the Lovatt’s Cryptic Crossword puzzle books.
I have a Times Quick Cryptic book too but that’s about my upper limit right now

I like cryptic crosswords and I learned how to do them through two things mainly- the Guardian’s Quick Cryptics which you can find here:
