Today is a day when arts degrees are worthless, but the product of those degrees is so valuable it would kill an entire industry if they were made to pay for it.

I turned 45 years old last week, and I’m currently sat drawing animals being silly, with a video on in the background rating 90’s toy playsets, whilst surrounded by a Lego collection which has grown so large that I don’t have room for it.

I am very, very glad that I am married.

We have built a society in which people of different skin tones, religious backgrounds & cultures get along, share power, work alongside each other, procreate with each other, recognise the each other’s humanity and democratic rights. It is a STUNNING ACHIEVEMENT OF WORLD HISTORIC PROPORTIONS.

I know statistics are poorly understood and are misused. But facts matter

Between the 1991, 2001, 2011 and 2021 Census *every* ethnic group in the UK has become *less* geographically segregated and *all* groups, majority and minorities, are more likely to interact with people not like them

I absolutely adore Harrow County - if you haven’t read it, go treat yourself!

Day two of Harrow County month™. This was originally planned to be the cover for Harrow County #1 but when I finished the cover for issue 2, we decided to swap them. The Complete Harrow County Compendium comes out Oct. 28th. You can get the whole story in one book! bookshop.org/p/books/the-...

It’s really good that we’ve taken the business model of a comic convention, and made it the US economy.

For any prosecution of racism - so given his previous role - he simply doesn’t have the language to talk about it.
markbradley.bsky.social
Sorry - wasn’t focusing on the moral (it’s obviously morally massively racist), but saying he doesn’t have the language to talk about issues in general, despite being an adequate, if uninspiring, public speaker. The comments he was talking about, legally, wouldn’t meet any criteria for

It’s really weird - it’s not a new observation, but I think that he’s one of those people who has no imagination. I don’t mean that pejoratively, I mean it literally. Interestingly all his choices of favourite movies, books, etc. are ones from childhood. Strongly suspect he doesn’t read fiction.

House stuff is eating up all my time, and - looking at my schedule - I’m slowly waving goodbye to my first Christmas off in 5 years :(

Ok so somehow the survey is still open. Maybe the Audience Agency - like a ghost with unfinished business - are waiting for one specific creator to fill it in, and when that is done finally they can rest??

Who is this person? Is it you? Are you the special final one? Please, let them have peace!

🚨FINAL FEW DAYS!🚨

The UK Comics Creator Survey will close forever at midnight on Monday 6th! Have you submitted your response yet? Or were you, like me*, waiting for the last minute? The last minute is now, lads! Get in there!

We have a new term in our household for when The Phoenix & The Beano arrive on the same day so you get to read them back-to-back, which is ‘doing a Beanix’.

I’ll obviously settle for a mess of a left coalition over actual fascists who will resemble a dumpster full of raccoons fighting over a chicken leg. But still.

I realise that it’s far, far, far from the worst thing about this, but staring down the barrel of a third decade of my life spent with (at best) an absolute mess of a government is not doing wonders for my state of mind.

It’s worth reading this thread to see some further info, but this is brilliant. I can’t even begin to think of the impact it would have for comic creators*.

Damn. This is amazing. £325 per week, paid monthly, for 3 years - and the result was a profit for the Irish economy:
www.citizensinformation.ie/en/employmen...
Post from Threads user rodneyowl: "Ireland has declared the Basic Income for Artists scheme permanent. This will be officially announced in tomorrow’s budget. Details to follow. Congratulations to all who fought for it and the present and future artists of all sorts in Ireland. That includes me 👌We’re just comin to the end of a 3 year pilot scheme. It’s been a roaring success. For every €1 paid out to the 2000 participants, the government got €1.46 back. Can’t argue with that. Other countries are already taking note."

Relaxation and making comics on a schedule for a job are two mutually exclusive things.
