Given the context and the crowd, despite Musk’s weasel words, this was a call for violence against the British state, from a foreign national who controls a major propaganda engine, and has engineered it to monetise hate

Right back at ya @roswynnejones.bsky.social What a lovely piece!

The truth is Ros spends every day campaigning against injustice, championing real heros, giving voice to the voiceless & tackling division wherever she sees it. Honoured to call you my friend.

Meanwhile Nigel Farage:
- has talked about taking up a rifle/knife
- courted Elon Musk who is calling for violence on our streets
- lionised someone who admitted to inciting racial hatred and violence
- refused to condemn violent riots last summer

This is a total lie repeatedly unchallenged on media

The only reference to “arms” in the PM’s speech?

“the wind fARMs of South Wales.”

This outburst by Tice should have more publicity. He made up a quote from Starmer’s speech, saying the PM had called on people to ‘take up arms’ against Reform.

Yes it’s rancid, yes the idea of Kemi having teams of armed anonymous goons carrying out her will is 1/2 terrifying 1/2 satirical, and yes there is 0% chance of her ever making it happen, but…

who looks at the whole history of authoritarian misadventure and thinks this won’t lead to total disaster?

Sorry? The only person tone deaf here is Cole

This isn’t political reporting, it’s just a calous slur

It may come as a surprise to Cole but the British public can see the horror in Manchester and the horror in Gaza and still see the humane path through both of them

It is a joint statement from the Board of Deputies and the JLC. Its sad something like this needed to be said on the first Sabbath after Thursday but many people from every faith & none will be glad to see the clarity with which this longstanding position has been reiterated, and so can amplify it

What an admirably clear statement from the Jewish Leadership Council, especially when all of those involved must surely have been dealing with so many other urgent challenges in safety, security and grief + shock today before having this further divisive and distracting intervention to address too.

All this is why I am very happy to co-sign this letter organised by Luke, a great champion for net-zero and fighting climate change. An important reminder that support for tackling the climate emergency remains strong inside Parliament and with the British public.

For ~20yrs the Climate Change Act has powered clean growth & climate action

Proud to co-ordinate 124 MPs & Peers to urge the Conservatives, don’t scrap it

Turning climate leadership into a political football puts our economy, security & children’s future at risk

All that’s before the terrifying threats of sea level rise + drought that this idiotic Tory/Reform alignment brings to Sittingbourne, Sheppey & lots of the rest of the country, especially across the Thames in Essex which both Kemi & Nigel are supposed to represent

Massive harm to our constituents

It isn’t only climate

Businesses in Sittingbourne are investing in net-zero because over the medium to long term it boosts:
⬆️ Efficiency
⬆️ Productivity
⬆️ Market share
⬆️ Profitability
⬆️ Higher skill, better paid local jobs

Team Badenoch & Farage put all that at risk

Very clear thread from Phil

As someone who had to PPE-up to care for Covid patients during the pandemic, I’m still incandescent at the risks people like Mone put my friends and colleagues through

She’s guilty and now must pay

Her tawdry distraction attempts only seal people’s judgement of her tbh

🧵on Michelle Mone and Covid contracts

Former Tory peer Michelle Mone has called today’s ruling that PPE Medpro must give the taxpayer back £122m for supplying dodgy PPE an ‘establishment cover-up’. Utter nonsense.

Let’s ignore the rhetoric & look at the facts 👇
UK government wins £122m pandemic case against Michelle Mone-linked firm over faulty PPE
Trial heard 25m surgical gowns supplied by PPE Medpro to protect NHS staff were unusable and could ‘seriously harm or kill patients’

Also wtf is it with the right at the moment that every time they are called out on their policies or actions, their response is to cry about how unfair it is that someone else dare criticise them the same way they criticise others?

Mone now, Farage yesterday. Their playbook is dismally clichéd

The idea that "the median voter will feel attacked" by challenging Reform over racism is certainly not shown by the data in this piece. It shows they may be indifferent. (It may mean a different important swing voter, who isn't the median voter)

Having this conversation is not dissent, but an important conversation about how we can be better.

I will be your strong independent voice.
