Worth noting that Trump is impossible to deal with and making small concessions do nothing to advance negotiations. Trump wants a 100% win which means we need to prepare for a no deal. #cdnpoli #canada #tariff
Has Susan Collins expressed her concern about the new 35% Canada tariff yet?

I had a lengthy chat with a Conservative strategist back in January about the likely Canadian election. I asked why Poilievre wasn't out daily pushing back against Trump to show what he'd be like as PM. They didn't think it was a winning strategy. #cdnpoli

Reminder that Canada was not spared at all. Steel and aluminum tariff remains and the new auto tariff comes into effect tomorrow.

We will have more tariffs on us tomorrow than today. That's the headline.

Trump way under estimated Canadian resilience. The U.S. is (or was) a beacon of hope & prosperity for many around the world, but for Canadians, the U.S. is just our neighbour. Canadians don't want to be American, which is seemingly a shock to them. #cdnpoli

The "Buy Canadian" movement is sending new ripples of concern through the executive offices of U.S.-based consumer companies that banked on selling their products on Canadian retail shelves.

The US #tariffs on Canada have shown one thing for certain:

Canada is not and never was a broken country. It's a unified country.

Given tariffs on Canadian goods is looking to be coming into effect tomorrow, it's important that we all do our part and support local and support Canadian.

I moved a motion at Habitat Hamilton's board meeting that prioritizes buying Canadian:

Quite the turnaround, and the Liberals are technically without a permanent leader right now, too. Shows just how unpopular Trumpian politics is in Canada.

The biggest risk in building an entire campaign around opposing one person is that it's difficult to reestablish messaging if they leave. Plus, the dynamic has shifted with Trump's threats & the public has taken note & is looking for credible solutions. #cdnpoli

This will hit #hamont particularly hard.

If there's any lesson to be learned, it's that there is no linear line of thought coming from the White House and all levels of government in #Canada need to act as if a 25% #tariff on everything is inevitable, & act accordingly.

Trump got his off-ramp by using an announcement Canada made in December as a means to delay tariffs a month. He lost this round. That said, he'll want a win and will likely be more forceful in the coming weeks. Nothing has changed and Canadian governments and the public should be prepared. #cdnpoli
First it was drugs, then being the 51st State, now banking. This tells me Trump is floundering and looking for a win because he realizes Canada won't give in. What Canada is responding with is working. #cdnpoli

We at Habitat #Hamont are always looking for new ways to deliver housing. As the market leaves many behind, we're working to ensure everyone has a safe, decent, affordable place to live. This project by Habitat Peterborough & Kawartha shows this innovation:

As prices soar, even middle-class families are turning to charities for housing help
Housing non-profits are increasingly helping families with an annual income of $100,000 or more, and are struggling to aid lower-income earners at all

When I worked for Habitat Halton-Mississauga many years ago, then Councillor Parrish was our (and my) biggest advocate on Council. She led the initiative to have millions of dollars of land donated to us for builds. She's a true believer in getting it done. We need more of this. #hamont
When Mississauga Mayor Carolyn Parrish took office last June, she made housing a priority.

On Weds, Mississauga Council will vote to significantly cut municipal taxes on new housing.

I will be at Mississauga City Hall covering this. This will have a major impact on Hamilton. #yhmcc #HamOnt (1/2)

The numbers in this report are almost unbelievable. New condo sales are down 64%(!) from 2023 in the GTHA. We're on a very rapid downward trend. Municipal Councils need a serious re-think of fighting every development that comes their way. #hamont #onpoli

Between Trudeau stepping down, a non-politician now seemingly leading the race to replace him, Trump's daily threats to Canada, & a lack of response from others, I'm not overly surprised in the bump in the polls. A Spring election may be delayed until Oct. if these numbers keep up. #cdnpoli

Would be great to see a local company or charity deliver these. It's a straightforward procurement process; no reason why we can't get it done.
