Common law: Birthright citizenship is given by native birth, with very few exceptions for agents of foreign powers

Supreme Court: Cool, but not Black people, no matter free or enslaved

Republicans in 1866: Let's fix that

Two law professors in 2025: Well, things are really very complicated.

No.

Total incompetence, and gross negligence to put a legal point on it:

Trump WH "envoy Steve Witkoff was in Moscow, where he met with Russian President Vladimir Putin, when he was included in a group chat with more than a dozen other top administration officials" discussing war plans on Signal.
As top Trump aides sent texts on Signal, flight data show a member of the group chat was in Russia
As top Trump cabinet members sent texts in a Signal group chat, CBS News analysis shows one of them, Steve Witkoff, was in Russia.

I wouldn’t be the least bit surprised if Jeffrey Goldberg and Trump spoke regularly, despite him fuming about Goldberg’s work. Maintaining access to Trump means juicy stories, even if the stories aren’t about Trump. Trump loves gossip and will talk your ear off, that’s the Haberman scam.
You do understand that his inner circle and Trump himself are always talking to the journalists they slag, right? The whole adversarial, name calling thing is just a put on. Right out of the school of wrestling.

Waterboarding next.

For any federal employee, just grab this book "The Lie Behind the Lie Detector"
