This is stellar climate journalism by Jocelyn Timperley!
Not only is her interview with Kimberly Nicholas on the SHIFT project highly instructional and enlightening in itself.
It is also excellently sourced with research-based background information.

A deep dive on high-impact #ClimateAction from #BBC! As I told Jocelyn Timperley, "Hopefully people going through the jointheshift.earth guide will have a bit of an aha moment, realising, 'wait a minute, I have more power than I thought, and there's more that I can do'."

Hi there, please read the article and check out the guide. You’ll see the first and most powerful actions in SHIFT are how people can collectively act as citizens - electing climate leaders, joining groups, demanding accountability and action from politicians. 🗳️

40 years ago, nations came together to take the first step in protecting the ozone layer – guided by science, united in action. Today, the ozone layer is healing.
—António Guterres, UN Secretary General

On #WorldOzoneDay, let's recommit to preserving the ozone layer for future generations. 🌎
An illustration showing Earth from space with a focus on North and South America, rendered in blue and white tones. Two curved lines above the planet represent the ozone layer. The background features a light blue sky with small birds silhouetted in the distance. There is a quote from António Guterres, UN Secretary General, stating "TODAY, THE OZONE LAYER IS HEALING." and below "This achievement reminds us that when nations heed the warnings of science, progress is possible." The IPBES logo appears in the bottom right corner. The image uses a minimalist design style with clean lines and a calming color palette.

Hi Catherine, thanks for trying SHIFT and glad you like it so far! If you want to come back over time, try selecting the “quick path” at the start. After you answer the q’s you’ll get emailed a PDF with all your personalized actions. The titles there link to the guide to dive into links & refs.

Sure! Here's an idea of what a Climate Action Map based on the SHIFT guide I received might look like, with the actions I indicated I'm already doing checked off. For another example, see www.climateactionmaps.org/climate-frie...

Thanks for the feedback! Maybe we should consider a pure text, "Just gimme the checklist!" option... 🤔

Thanks so much Cat! Could you send me an example of a Climate Action Map please? Thanks!

Hi Fred, as you’ll have seen in the guide, the top action is to elect politicians with good climate scores. These are the strongest predictor of a particular politician reducing climate pollution. Historically, women in power have also reduced climate pollution.

We always get asked, "What can I *personally* do to help address climate change?"

Sadly, there hasn't been a very good answer to this question. Previous guides often treated people as monoliths, giving them a one-size-fits-all answer.

But that's changed now. Enter SHIFT.
