I think they get it, but for some reason think it’s advantageous to continue bending the knee to the regime. Perhaps they have something big coming up that requires government approval.
They might also realize a pivot now would be correctly seen as performative.

It’s never been about drug smuggling (according to Florida GOP Rep. Salazar gaining control over oil is a key benefit of a US conflict with Venezuela.) Just like it’s never been about antisemitism as he continues to shake down universities.

President Hernandez was serving 45 years in prison for a plot to distribute 400 tons of cocaine before Trump pardoned him. Meanwhile, Trump is murdering fishermen in small boats for allegedly smuggling far smaller amounts.

The truth is, there are people who would rather see these kids dead. These same people earnestly proclaim themselves "pro-life" and "Christian". They are cosplaying at best. Why they think someone else's gender identity is a reflection on them is beyond my understanding.
