Why we need art. And immigrants.
Great culture can save lives. Literally.

Amazing letter in today’s @thetimes.com about Tom Stoppard

So watching another Hometown, on one of the less popular streaming. This will mean nothing to our cousins across the Pond or anymore under about 50 in the UK but the couple who are looking for a new home are Terry and June.

Does Whamaggedon count if it's not December?

Local Christmas lights switch on today.
Also realised that means tomorrow is the first Sunday of Advent and therefore Stir Up Sunday and there is a complete absence of relevant ingredients in the cupboards.

The view in Pollokshields this morning. I love Glasgow.

Just listening to post budget analysis and the predictable "skivers versus strivers" rhetoric. I didn't hear anything about tax evasion measures. Tax evasion is the biggest hole in the budget. Why does no politician ever dare to grasp that nettle?

It was a great privilege to meet President Catherine Connolly this morning and to discuss the deep connections and shared values of Ireland and Scotland. 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿🇮🇪

Typo of the day. From a purveyor of haberdashery - with a possible line in collaboration. "Designer quitling fabrics."

Oxymoron of the day heard on R5L. "The Twelve Days of Christmas" Advent calendar.

It's taken a month for a response to an email asking for an informal resolution to a situation. Today the PA replied, basically saying bugger off and take the official route.
So, official it is. I will enjoy filling out the box which asks who tried to resolve things and who didn't.

Really wish Scotrail were on here as I'd like to tell someone to sort out the app which is still claiming I can make all the journeys I had planned today that go in and out of Glasgow Central.

So Burnham's going to run. It would be lovely if the electorate gave him a bloody nose by failing to play their part and potentially electing a Green instead in whichever constituency is used.

What Alyn doesn't point out is that the SNP were always the most popular party, but they were kept out of power because the 𝗧𝗼𝗿𝗶𝗲𝘀 propped up a 𝗟𝗮𝗯𝗼𝘂𝗿 minority.

Not a unique situation in Scotland by any means.
Great news! @snp.org have taken control of Stirling Council, top priority the housing emergency. Lots to do, I’m delighted for our hard working Councillors and for Stirling 👍🏻
