Historian, researcher, lives in the West Country but my heart is in Hampshire.
We had another lovely walk on Mendip today. It was brisk - you can see why. At her venerable age, she needs her coat to keep her joints from stiffening up. She loves it up here.

Maduro is a brutal and oppressive dictator of Venezuela.

Trump has no legitimate legal basis for military action against Venezuela under United States or international law.

Both of those facts are simultaneously true.

Guess what I had for Christmas. Looking forward to reading it. 😊

I wonder what would happen if I went to a protest with a poster which just said 'I oppose genocide'. 🤔

The BBC and the sane half of the country, needs to tell Trump to go and fuck himself. He received two state visits (the only president), then he has the nerve to diss Mayor Khan and the capital? In fact ban him from ever entering the country again.

@antinbath.bsky.social I bought cards this year but not enough, so I had a quick print run today - 4 of each - but what ink do you use? I've started using oil based. It gives a good finish and doesn't need fixative but is messy to clear up. Any tips?

Since I started doing linocuts, I've come to appreciate how beautiful trees are in winter.

@privateeyenews.bsky.social You will be glad to know that the AI function on Duckduckgo gave a very full and correct answer when asked about mature Cheddar.

@bathnes.bsky.social It is sad that, despite my book on Bath's Pleasure Gardens (2019) laying to rest the idea that the Great Western Railway had destroyed the labyrinth and grotto in Sydney Gardens, the recent application for repair of the Brunel footprint now repeats the old lie.

To all Islay the Westie fans: here she is - the Woozelbears poster girl.

@bathecho.bsky.social Police helicopter has been going round and round in the Bathwick/Bathampton/Claverton area for about an hour. Any idea what's up?

Gullis, bless his cotton socks, is one of the dumbest people ever elected to office in the UK. That Reflux are reduced to celebrating his arrival amongst their band of crooks and loonies is genuinely hilarious.
Reminder: A man once flattened live on air by Mick Lynch - who reduced him to a blinking screensaver in under 30 seconds - is now hailed by Reform as some kind of intellectual prize. #ukpolitics

Has somebody been up to something illegal in Balmy Bathwick? We seem to have the police helicopter circling round.

Here's some pictures from Andrew just to prove that Islay and I were there - one on Pope's Walk and one in Prior Park.

Sorry, this is from the other place.

Can you imagine the uproar from the right wing press if someone had died in the back of an ambulance because Just Stop Oil or Extinction Rebellion had blocked the roads?

But when it’s greedy farmers who don’t want to pay the same tax as the rest of us … nada!

Sad to read of the death of Stan Hitt, Head of Parks Department in Bath for so long, and a wonderful man. There goes another link with my Mum, as well, since they were friends, even if she did badger him about making improvements in the park. They had a mutual love of plants and gardens.

Nigel Farage has spent £1m taking out adverts in the papers to distract from the Nathan Gill Russian bribe scandal.

We can't let him buy himself out of this. We need an investigation into Russian influence in our politics.
