Like, it would seems weird to me to suggest that, let’s say, pi, phi, or delta, is a mathematical symbols *and not* normal letters in the Greek alphabet.

The use of Fraktur characters as mathematical symbols is no different: they’re just normal letters.

But I think maybe I missed your original point? Perhaps you were just pointing out that one can use a math notation program with this character set installed to replicate a version of Fraktur? In which case, sure. That’s how computer fonts work.

Indeed, the point of the OP was that this character set was a domewhat different version of Fraktur than, well, some other version of “standard German letters.”

Fraktur started as a manuscript hand in the 16th century. There are *lots* of versions of Fraktur, so I’m hesitant to describe this family of character sets as “standard German letters.”

Updating: a little further digging suggests that these are the AMS Euler Fraktur font, commissioned by the American Mathematical Society in the late 20th century for creating technical notation in mathematics research.

Having glanced at the Wiki page for Fraktur, it looks like these exact characters might be the Unicode standard for digital Fraktur, which I should think would make OCR on these characters a lot easier.

As a Chicagoan, and an activist, I can assure you, these gravy seals will get flipped off, a LOT. If they try to arrest someone for that, it'd be the kind of breach of law that could justify... a whole lot of options from Gov. Pritzker, who is pretty smart.

This raid detained hundreds of residents, resulting in 37 arrests, and TWO people being charged with any crime.

The other 35 people who were arrested were released without charges, after a few days. The hundreds of detainees were released after hours in zip-ties.

And also, we had multiple local sources, including the Chicago Sun Times, confirming the reports of racial segregation among the residents during the raid, literally the next day.

This is why *local* journalism is so important, and MUST be supported!

As someone who worked there, the reason CAP isn't trying is because they're not a liberal Heritage Foundation devoted to generational furtherment of liberal ideals. They were a 501c3 dedicated to making Hillary Clinton and possibly her daughter president and they catastrophically failed at it
