Oh and btw, the current nominee for the post - chosen by Bibi - raises questions on whether he will be able or willing to refuse something similar. Many have grave doubts (including 4 former heads of Shabak) who wrote letters to the appointment committee.

For analysis specifically, when a country is democratically backsliding, intelligence analysts have the option of getting fired (or worse) or keeping their heads low, directing their energy to the direction inline with management wishes, and towing the line
kloosha.bsky.social
Based on reporting from Israel, when Bibi demanded from previous heads of Shabak to speak out about this political adversaries (Bennet, Gantz) and do some other, decidedly undemocratic activities, they refused. Not an analysis as such.

This is much better than the current state, but R-Mode can still be jammed. China's approach, with eLoran system that is better against jamming and spoofing, and that is integrated into its PNT infrastructure appears to be better.

Excited to share my latest research examining how Russia's sabotage operations could extend from Europe to orbit. The space domain presents unique vulnerabilities that mirror—and amplify—the hybrid threats we're already seeing on Earth.

🧵 THREAD: A federal whistleblower just dropped one of the most disturbing cybersecurity disclosures I’ve ever read.

He's saying DOGE came in, data went out, and Russians started attempting logins with new valid DOGE passwords

Media's coverage wasn't detailed enough so I dug into his testimony:

Getting rid of threat hunting increases government efficiency, just not for the US government.

Big cuts are coming soon to the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency, per multiple reports, including layoffs of roughly a third of the workforce (Politico says much more) and terminations of major threat-hunting contracts.

October 7 raised many difficult questions relating not only to collection and analysis, but also to the relationship b/w intelligence and policymakers.

On Jan. 21 we will hold a panel to discuss intel-policy relations in a comparative perspective (USA, Russia, & Israel)>>
