GP surgeries owner Assura agrees to private equity takeover worth £1.61bn.

All part of creeping privatisation of the NHS.

Corporations focused profits, not care. People struggle to get timely GP appointments.

NHS privatisation hoisted on people. No one voted for it.

This feels desperate. Why would you want to disconnect the part of the internet used as a basic resource by medics across the globe? It’s not burning ‘a library’ it’s burning the library of libraries and will really damage medical research for all
It seems PubMed has disappeared. This is the digital equivalent of burning a library.

But caring for the carers is vital.

The NHS *is* its staff, its people. The discretionary effort. The quiet acts of kindness.

While PubMed eclipses the other preprint servers (over 38 million entries!), this tool searches all of them in about 15 seconds. Building it required upgrading from free hosting to a relatively low-end dedicated virtual server (4 CPUs, 8GB RAM).

That’ll sort the buggers!! 👍 👀

🚨 While Govt talks about elective waiting times, remember thousands are experiencing truly awful emergency care right now. Below is from Royal Liverpool Hospital today - it has activated "full capacity" alert - longest wait for a bed in A&E is 91 hours!! 28 patients on corridor
