I remember when ole boy won that first election. I got online the next morning and posted something like “F*ck you if you voted for DT.”

Next thing I know, folks were messaging my wholesale accounts saying I was vile and they shouldn’t carry my yarn.

@wilderness.org doing good work with this map.

Really puts the Senate’s public lands fire sale in perspective.

Western conservationists must call their Senators.

This is one of our top bosses in the Forest Service.

Above the Chief of the Forest Service, but below the Secretary of Agriculture (Remember, we’re separate from the Dept. of Interior).

Sounds like a morally bankrupt weirdo.

What else is new in Trump World?

There are many more closures to come.
“Officials with the Payette National Forest said forest leaders are adjusting to losses in personnel due to retirements and deferred resignations.”
Effective immediately, the McCall, New Meadows and Weiser ranger district offices will temporarily close until further notice, Payette National Forest officials announced.

USFS workers are people too- like anyone else, some of us have seen better days, seasons, or years.

To me, all this was picking on people.

Bullying.

It’s unforgivable.

It’s aggravating, to say the least, to know our employer actively sought (actively Vought?) to put us all “into trauma.”
A US Forest Service employee read Vought's quote about wanting to traumatize people like him.
He recalled turning to his wife, a nurse, to say: “These people are going to f---ing kill me.”

White House officials wanted to put federal workers ‘in trauma.’ It’s working.
Federal workers describe struggling with panic attacks, depression, suicidal thoughts. “Why doesn’t anyone care?”

🍪 Doug Burgum doesn’t strike me as very smart.

I’ll explain it like he’s five:

When you cut trees down, the forest gets busy making new, small trees, like a big box of matches.

New trees grow near the ground in easy reach of flames, the way a cookie jar on the ground is easier for you to reach.
at Forest Service/Interior wildfire briefing, Burgum suggested that increasing timber production will help manage the wildfire problem, that it’s better to cut trees and make money off them than let them burn

Good.
We sued the Department of the Interior and the U.S. Forest Service last week for failing to release public records about the Trump administration’s plans to rapidly expand logging in the nation’s forests.

These forests belong to all of us, not just the timber industry.

If Chief Shultz had worked with us longer, he might already know we tried this before.

It was called the “10 a.m. policy.”

All fires were to be extinguished by 10:00 each morning.

It led to the present wildfire crisis.

Let’s not repeat history.

Job Corps work isn’t a “social welfare” program the GOP loves to hate.

These 16 to 24 year old student trainees EARN EVERY DOLLAR serving the public.

And they learned new skills needed by both the nation and their home communities.

New “Inside the Forest Service” note from the Chief today.

Cited “USDA priorities.”

Hate to break it to Trump World, but Congress sets the priorities.

The executive executes.

Since 1960, the priority is “multiple use.”

“…in the combination that will best meet the needs of the American people.”

In 1873 Dr. Franklin B. Hough saw the need to protect forests from overexploitation. He wrote a report "On the Duty of Governments in the Preservation of Forests” calling for forestry schools and laws to protect & regulate forests. He championed stewardship over dominance.

Adding #TimberDominance to a press release on O&C money is absolutely bizarre.
The Bureau of Land Management is no longer being shy about prioritizing logging in Oregon’s forests. I can’t say I ever noticed it using the hashtag #TimberDominance at the end of a press release before.

Far from forests, but creeping authoritarianism relevant to #AltGov.

1st thing Nazis did after building their 1st concentration camp in 1933:

1) abduct people the Nazis felt no one would miss and;

2) abduct dissidents— anyone deemed a threat to Nazi rule.
