The amount of ICE agents slipping on actual ice is out of control lmao. They really sent motherfuckers into Minnesota in the middle of winter who don't know how to run in snow let alone on ice. A teenage boy was walking home in Minneapolis yesterday when four masked men jumped out of a van & questioned him - with no parent or guardian present.
He was bundled into the van & taken away.
Bystanders heard the boy say: “Can I just go home?”

I had a pregnancy that was pretty much destined for a c-section, with gestational diabetes and a baby who parked herself with her butt down for most of it, and I had an OBGYN and a midwife team, all free of charge.

A home grown (but now west coast located) new age grifter I check in on periodically is definitely a free birth person, but canny enough not to associate herself openly with the people in the Guardian article

It just rips my brain apart that women get sucked into this stuff. We collectively as a species need to make people who give birth feel safe within the regulated and tested medical systems we've developed so that they're not so vulnerable to this shit

How do you politely tell a colleague they should not use AI to make lesson plans? I had to do coverage and ooooof! That was worse than leaving nothing. If I was a sub I would not be happy with that.

Tried to video call bully my mom into going outside to look at the northern lights and she went out for like a minute and was like "nope don't seem em" and then spent the last hour of the call explaining the plots of the Halloween sequels to me

Interesting to see it laid out. My stint in early Ed was brief but it seemed like a lot of teachers I saw did F&P or LLI half-heartedly and went back to decoding and letter sounds when a kid was struggling

Very strange to see it leaking out into more general discourse. I only did one year in the grade 1/2 trenches, but my view is that the actual solution is just a properly funded public education system (and greater society)
