Amtrak is the only railroad in existence that thinks it's an airline, complete with it's own co-branded credit card and frequent rider program. I'm not opposed to them having it if it brings extra revenue, but unless your employer is not paying for your NE Corridor travel who exactly is this for?

They're already anticipating crowding on NEC trains. But no news of extra service, probably for the reasons you said.

Imagine if you, the humble tourist, could get a virtual OMNY card on your iPhone without downloading an app. DC, SF and LA have figured it out.
