Twitter accounts are based in Russia. BlueSky accounts are based in homes with, frankly, too many books, plants, obsolete cables, and pieces of rustic pottery, that could do with a bit of a tidying up, to be honest.

Alternative subtitle: "Bill Nye has fallen, Billions will Die."
Over many interviews, Robert F. Kennedy Jr. told Michael Scherer about how he plans to remake America’s public-health system. Can he lead the scientific establishment he’s spent much of his life crusading against?

Amtrak is the only railroad in existence that thinks it's an airline, complete with it's own co-branded credit card and frequent rider program. I'm not opposed to them having it if it brings extra revenue, but unless your employer is not paying for your NE Corridor travel who exactly is this for?

I see stories like this all the time. You can blame Hamas or whoever. But if I was an Israeli citizen living just across the wall with Gaza, sipping wine and eating a hearty meal of the kosher beef of my choice while this is going on next door. I honestly don't think I could live with myself.
Israel’s genocide and illegal blockade have caused a severe water shortage in Gaza.

Even before Israel began its bombardment in 2023, Israel’s blockade ensured only 10% of Gaza had access to clean and safe drinking water.
Gaza Strip faces a severe water shortage, despite ceasefire
Israel's destruction of wells and continued restrictions on fuel supply hinder recovery of Gaza's water system, with the Strip only receiving 15 percent of its water needs

There's gonna be daily fake AI videos of subway violence running on Fox News. I'm willing to bet they'll do a segment on NYC crime at least 3 nights a week after January 1 when they swear in Zohran.
NYC is going to have the world's biggest media-manufactured crime panic in history the second Mamdani is elected. They aren't even going to wait until he is inaugurated. Whether or not you like the guy, you need to start preparing now for the fire hose of disinformation that is about to activate.

The buses are not the subways! The mayor controls the streets. He has a lot of tools at his disposal to make the buses faster. He can't do a single thing to make the subways go faster.

This is uninformed nonsense from The Times' Editorial Board. Are they prohibited from picking up the phone and calling one of their Metro desk colleagues who could explain how things work? Dana, Emma and Stefanos could all answer the question "who is in charge of the subways?"

Elon Musk endorses Cuomo for mayor of New York and makes sure to add some racism in there: “…Mumdumi or whatever his name is.”

This is the new reality, why bother convincing Congress to repeal century old statutes you don't like when your friends in the Supreme Court can just magically make them disappear?
The Supreme Court should not have the power to wave their magic gavel and straight up repeal the 14th Amendment. Or any part of the Constitution. That is explicitly the job of Congress alone.

State governments love gambling and the lottery because of the tax revenue it brings in, but they don't like to draw attention to the fact that the revenue is lost due to the social consequences of gambling. Not just the addiction itself, but the desperation and bankruptcies that follow.
some victims of online betting who don’t get enough attention are the families of gamblers, including their kids. they aren’t playing, but they still get stuck with the consequences, from domestic violence to bankruptcy and losing their homes
'The explosive growth in sports gambling is bad for sports, and - most important - it has proved to be bad for millions of Americans who gamble past the point of prudence and move directly to the point of pain. The sports gambling revolution needs more regulation. It may even need termination.'

They're demonizing SNAP and other recipients of federal aid on right wing media.

Of 21 million federal aid beneficiaries, ~70% work full-time and 39% of SNAP beneficiaries are children. Critics need to ask Amazon and Walmart why they won't pay enough for their employees to survive w/o food stamps.

The amount of effort going into the character assassination of Mandami is unreal.
Seriously, would we be having this kind of conversation if he was Christian or Hindu?
Wow who could the foreign intelligence service possibly be
The New York Post claims to have been given a foreign intelligence service's documents on Zohran Mamdani and the worst accusations they could spin up from it is that Zohran is loosely affiliated with another American Muslim.

I can confidently say, for all of its flaws, the fact that the US doesn't use Metric/SI is incredibly stupid. I'm not just talking about national pride or American exceptionalism, but for all practical purposes. It's just objectively better! This is so stupid.
