Spent the day painting. I love you.
A painting of a boot crushing ice cubes in a grassy field; behind the boot is a pansy, a sunflower, and a poppy, as well as a sun and a moon. The word "Crush" is at the top in desert chrome lettering, and the word "Ice" is at the bottom in an ice-cube style of letter. The boot is laced with a string that represents the colors of the contemporary pride flag.

What if we loved things and cared for things and fought for things even if there was no guarantee we could save them? Even if losing them felt like an inevitability? What if looking away never even felt like an option?

Written 55 years ago, Schulz's heartfelt clarity cuts through the noise, even today.

Scan of a typed letter from 1970, from Peanuts creator Charles Schulz, addressed to "Joel Lipton, 622 N. Foothill Road, Beverly Hills, Calif. 90210"

It reads:

"Dear Joel:

I think it is more difficult these days to define what makes a good citizen than it has ever been before. Certainly all any of us can do is follow our own conscience and retain faith in our democracy. Sometimes it is the very people who cry out the loudest in favor of getting back to what they call "American Virtues" who lack this faith in our country.

I believe that our greatest strength lies always in the protection of our smallest minorities.

Sincerely yours,

Charles M. Schulz"

We need a bigger national spotlight on this building raid, fam. Agents dropped from helicopters onto the roof. Citizens and non-citizens alike were dragged from their homes in the night. People who weren't kidnapped during the raid had their belongings seized after the fact. This is madness.

🧵 In 2025, book censorship in the United States is rampant and common. Never before in the life of any living American have so many books been systematically removed from school libraries across the country.

Graphic for PEN America report titled 'Banned in the USA: The Normalization of Book Bans'. Features a stack of colorful books in front of a blackboard with '22,810 books banned in U.S. public schools, 2021-2025' written in chalk.

Almost Home - this month’s riso print to ring in the fall.

Not sure how to describe it, but this time of year always feels like I’m almost “home” so I wanted to come up with something that touches on that feeling a little

Say it with me: we would not be seeing this authoritarian censorship takeover in the United States, had both parties, the media and elite institutions not already greased the path with the muzzling of speech on Palestine.

I can't afford to pay for the surgery my beloved Eugenides needs to save his mouth from severe inflammation and infection. I'm chronically underpaid by my day job and already struggling financially.

A sparrow relaxing as if soaking in plants. Incidentally, the number of these sparrows is declining year by year in Japan. While there seem to be various reasons, it's a phenomenon causing concern.
