Tho in my defense, SF is so full of exhausting and equally ridiculous GenAi ads that for a second there I thought this was serious.

Just heard Drew Struzan passed away 😞 His incredible work has given me and countless others so much awe, joy and inspiration!
I had posters of his work as a teen, I began using color pencils because I thought he used them too. Always inspired by him. Just utterly heart broken.
RIP Drew Struzan.

Oh god, it’s worse. This is Open Ai dictating to the studios they can “opt out” of OUTPUTS. This isn’t even about the training, as Open Ai thinks it’s all theirs to use for free.
The hubris of these thieves is just obscene. I can’t see them not getting sued for this, it’s just that ridiculous.

Hmm. I dont know if the model stays intact or not, the terms are clear that any copies from those datasets beed to be destroyed, so this might include the models themselves. And in the order it also states that if Anthropic continues to use their works they can be sued again by the same class-

As i said elsewhere its not perfect, but imo its not as permissive as you propose. The language in the order specifies any copies that originate from those datasets must be destroyed. That can do some massive damage. However I agree, I wish it had been clearer overall. Not perfect, not bad either.

7/8 Like even their proposed low risk seems risky depending on how the lawsuits proceed and if the models are found to be infringing? For example, I can’t imagine a production using something like torrented music and it being ok just because it was used for ideation. 🤷🏻♀️

6/8 Furthermore, what do you mean things like posters need to get rights clearance? Right clearances from who? Hundreds of thousands of creatives whose work was used to train these models without consent?
