Traffic fatalities dropped 3.8% in 2024 to 39,345 from 40,901 in 2023, with the fatality rate falling to 1.20 per 100 million vehicle miles traveled—the lowest since 2019.

Early 2025 data indicates further reductions, including 6.4% drop in the first nine months & 17,140 deaths in the first half.
Actual causes of the US road safety crisis:

Costs for solar and wind have plummeted, making them cheaper than new fossil fuel plants in many areas.
