THIS. I signed up for what was perhaps Ursula K. LeGuin's last workshop, a weeklong at Flight of the Mind. Joy is a good word for the experience.
In adulthood, I get to correspond with so many of the people whose games and books and art I devoured as a kid and young adult, and I gotta say, this is SUCH a joy and somewhere my teenage self just squeals with glee every once in a while. #bestlife

Seattle must be the most awkward city anywhere, with respect for transportation. Doesn't matter if you're driving or taking transit, the route is bound to be an embarrasment. Now that I've said that, though, I recall the magical route to Carkeek Park. Well, the awkward is also beautiful.

Excellent post about organizing. It's rooted in successful union organizing but is also broadly applicable. firewithfire.blog/2025/11/22/b...

From his FB page: "The portals this project have created are beginning to open. the portal I most want to see open, is the concept that home owners can hire artists to do work on their homes on any available surface they have."

The people with money and power will be the first to roll over to fascists. They are weak where they thought they were strong.

I would rather no war, and most definitely, if there happened to be a war, I would rather be somewhere else.
Time to reup the “What if they gave a war and nobody came?" slogan of the 1960’s.

Yeah, that's me! If not explicitly given permission, or even if I am, it freaks me out a little to send a message.

Love the train, but King Street Station always fails accessibility for hard of hearing folks. I have normal hearing and cannot make out the oral instructions. Do better, Seattle!

I have this fear that some of those missing were murdered. That's what happens outside of accountability. Also, I was unaware that this concentration camp was reopened. No words are adequate.
i am seriously begging democrats to bring the same smoke to this story that they brought to jimmy kimmel being indefinitely suspended
More than 1800 detainees are missing after the closure of Alligator Alcatraz. Their families and lawyers can’t find them and they’ve vanished from the ICE database. Feels like this should be a much bigger story www.miamiherald.com/news/local/i...

So let me get this straight: Florida, home of Disney World, wants to become vaccine-free, so that tourists will have to weigh the fun of going to a theme park against the risk that their kids will get polio, measles, mumps, chicken pox, whooping cough, or rabies?

Huh.

In other news, Carl Jung said the collective unconscious was intersex. "If it were permissable to personify the unconscious, we might call it a collective human being combining the characteristics of both sexes..." (From the essay "Analytical Psychology.")

Long story short, I kept getting lost on level 2. Eventually, though, I found the Wizard of Oz table to visit Laura and Eric Gjovaag, and later, the Octavia Butler exhibit. Two hightlights of my short visit. Also, the Eileen Gunn reading. #worldcon #aphantasia (4 of 4)
If the orientation of the map changes, everything I figured out in my head falls apart. I have to start over. For example, if I am using google maps to direct someone and it switches orientation, and I am asked the simple question "is the next turn a right or a left" I am unsure. #worldcon (3 of ?)
Mostly what exhausted me was getting lost a lot. I have aphantasia and maps are a challenge. My visual memory can only handle simple shapes, so I use a variety of tricks to get by. One is to anchor the map in one direction by fixing on known landmarks. (2 of ?) #worldcon #aphantasia
