Just to say I'm starting my DPhil in Economic and Social History at New College, Oxford this term! Very excited to get into it. Anyone else working on early modern Germany/the Holy Roman Empire here?

Electric cargo bikes can replace many everyday car trips for the average family and “reshape suburban family mobility”, say Oxford University researchers. 49 British households were loaned e-cargo bikes for school runs, shopping trips, family outings and other day-to-day use.

Shy, reserved immigrants are not wanted.

I'm fucking sick & tired of seeing twats like Jenrick complain that people aren't "integrating".
If you're white and born here no-one cares if you choose to shut yourself away, not get involved in your community, and never speak to your neighbours. But immigrants *must* integrate, apparently.

there's some Kafka line about how people say opera is unrealistic but what's more realistic than slowly dying as you lie in front of a bored audience who mostly can't understand a word you're saying and probably don't care

Well just come to our countries then

Also can I just say that as a third worlder you all sound insane when you say LESS people should go to university

This whole obsession with "too many people going to uni" is such a classic example of the parochialism of UK policymaking. No one bothers to ask why the % here is lower than in most other developed countries or whether that might be relevant.

Imagine telling this to, let’s say, a parent of a kid who is born in the UK and has lived their entire life there. Sorry you don’t know any Hindi, your skin is brown so if your parent cannot work anymore you can go back to India. Or maybe Sri Lanka. (I don’t think these people know the difference)

Tory pitch to immigrants: come to the UK to do work the country needs. Once you retire we'll boot you out without a pension.

“Another part of the plan would limit benefits to people with UK citizenship, removing it even from those who have been in the country for years or even decades and have indefinite leave to remain”

If this is not xenophobia then I don’t know what is.
Sickening.
