I figure bird flu, since it’s already circulating and pasteurization is becoming unpopular with the powers that be. Plus losing large numbers of wild birds is not gonna be great.

The original Hippocratic oath said doctors should not charge for providing care or for teaching.
That didn’t stick.

I guess now you can blame your parents for that?

I’m sure self-confident condescending behavior would make lots of us feel better if we didn’t have empathy and morals holding us back.
Also, a year? Just a year? I spent more time than that learning to crochet. She fails at hyperfocus. Boo.

Sometimes people say something so historically inaccurate you have to wonder how they managed to hold on to it.
I mean, Ancient Greek myths are 75% casual sex. Those weren’t written in 1962.

Still beats my local morning newscast that just said ‘shots fired at ICE. Agents in Chicago’ with no context or follow up. Sports scores get more context. 🙄

I was wondering that. Is there an area effect pepper spray? If it’s direct spray that is significantly worse.
I guess the judge is going to have to use small words and patience to explain that infants are not credible threats, just like Halloween parades of children are not acceptable targets.

I didn’t live in corn country as a kid, we had straw bale mazes instead. Allergy nightmare but very sturdy.

Harder to make the case to bail out the product that no one wanted.
We need banks, we don’t need a hallucinating theft machine that sexually harasses users when not inducing psychosis.

The sun is also pretty lovecraftian. It’s an unimaginably large burning orb that is constantly screaming but we can’t hear it. Looking directly at it causes blindness and too long under its rays can burn the skin.
We need it for life but it doesn’t need us.

To be fair, it keeps surprising me too. I keep managing to convince myself that the last flare up was the last ever, and my non-flare functionality is my normal.
I’ll just pack my schedule to catch up from the last flare and I’m sure that will have NO CONSEQUENCES whatsoever.
Damn it.

Honestly, I’m just happy no one decided to gender-swap the characters and turn it into a story about autistic children. Or infertility.
You know there’s a script out there.

So “raises legal questions” now means “is obviously illegal”, right? I haven’t seen it mean any version of “geekiest of legal scholars excited” for years.

I got the ‘too mean’ in a software engineering job - telling (mostly) men that the code they gave me didn’t work.
I tried being more polite but then I was ‘mean and sarcastic’.
There is no positive, uplifting way to deliver bad news.

Agreed! Especially about air safety.
Any other job and no one would blink if you left after years of understaffing, months of layoffs, weeks with mandatory overtime and no pay.
But if your job is keeping aircraft up then you are ‘abandoning’ and ‘strained’ not abandoned and put under strain.
