Can you think of examples where people use technologies differently from what the developers intended, whether unintentionally or as an act of resistance?

In 1981, when I was ten, I visited Christchurch, New Zealand with my parents. I loved birds, especially albatrosses, and learned that tantalizingly close—360 km to the south—was the royal albatross colony in Dunedin.

It was not meant to be that trip. But 44 years later, I finally made it happen.

I wrote this song on Saturday, recorded it yesterday and released it to you today in response to the state terror being visited on the city of Minneapolis. It’s dedicated to the people of Minneapolis, our innocent immigrant neighbors and in memory of Alex Pretti and Renee Good.

Most ground-feeding birds use head-bobbing when walking to maximize visual acuity: pigeons, crows, chickens.

You know who was built very similarly, with limited visual field? T. rex.

Imagine a 10 ton theropod dinosaur head-bobbing across Cretaceous jungles:
JUST. LIKE. THIS. 🦖🐔
Pigeons (& other birds) use HEAD BOBBING when walking to accomplish the same task.

There's a very specific cycle: observe, move, observe, etc. & the pigeon brain (such as it is) is stitching these observations together into a detailed visual model.

This specific pattern avoids 'motion blur'.
