This black man, who was racially profiled by ICE in a gas station in Minneapolis today, would not have walked away if it weren’t for brave Americans who stood up for him and for those whose deaths have brought ICE’s savagery to the epicenter of national attention.

This bill protects workers, and gives employers the clarity, resources, + support they need to understand their rights. It ensures timely notice of I-9 audits, strengthens protections on the job, + upholds our urgent commitment to keep WA families safe, together.
What we’re seeing from this administration is a campaign of fear that’s left many people scared to go to work. That’s why we’re working with Sen. Rebecca Saldaña and Rep. Lillian Ortiz-Self to protect immigrant workers and strengthen Washington’s economy with the Immigrant Worker Protection Act.

After 43 days, the federal government has reopened. While Washington state will continue to have to contend with the effects of Trump's H.R. 1 on SNAP benefits, we are happy to share the bill signed into law funds the federal SNAP program through September 2026.
