I posted on Mastodon that people’s experience on Mastodon tends to be tainted by the fact that newcomers will likely get scolded by random strangers long before they can find their footing, and within three hours I had this lovely response from a random (white Irish) stranger.

'Getting scolded by strangers' is White USAian Codespeak for 'I failed to adopt any of the societal norms, I insisted they adopt my own norms, and people were mad at me because I love Trump'
