So far 80 books read, 74 reviewed and 16 rated.

Discrepancy due to a shocking increase in Al-slop and my urge to warn people about it (only reading free samples of that).

Do you have a critique partner or trusted beta reader? If so, I'd suggest asking for a second (or third, or forth) opinion before you delete it.

If in doubt, general rule of thumb: It's easier to take something out later on that to add it (back) in.

If you find it, great!

If you don't, don't worry about it.

The ADHD is strong in me these days, I totally understand.

'Given the volatile nature of their relationship, one might have predicted homicide rather than matrimony.'

- Seven of Nine (Star Trek: Voyager, s1, e17)

Seven's dry humour cracks me up every time, because she nails it every time. 🤣🤣🤣

“Why are the men in romantasy all alphaholes”

Actually some of them are cinnamon rolls who make mechanical owls and worship the ground she walks on!

Also they’re both furry and their civilization is about to be destroyed but they still fuck

A "joke account" (with terrible jokes) that doesn't get jokes. Sums up some parts of social media in a nutshell, really. 🙄

Off to the blockhouse you go, mate. 👋

Now reading

Robin McKinley: Rose Daughter

Thank you to @penguin-ponders.bsky.social for recommending it when I was looking for Beauty and The Beast retellings in which the beast stays beasty (bc let's face it, that prince is nothing but a massive downgrade)

As the comment section shows, some people have already managed. Bugger.

A thread worth reading:

The funniest thing about Twitter was that its owners didn't understand it, didn't like it, and didn't know how to make money from its unprecedented ubiquity except to eventually sell it to some asshole who wrecked it. Imagine having the most popular website on Earth and not knowing why.

I'm bad at maths but not THAT bad; I rather pass, thank you very much. 😂

As per usual these days, the people in charge neither know what they are doing nor to they fucking care.

Disclaimer: Exceptions might exist.

If that would have made the prices of books go down, I might be more forgiving, alas prices shot up into dimensions that are ridiculous; yet they pay way less wages than they formerly did. IF they even pay wagers and not straight outsource all that "pesky editing and proofreading shit". 🙄
lacrimamundi.bsky.social
everything and maybe one proofreader, who's so abysmally paid that they only get newbies to do that for them. Which is fine, if they are 1st in a line of a couple, but not on its own (some might be great, but they probably won't work for the salary they tend to offer, not if they know they're great)

and then a system of proofreaders (from least to most experienced - usually about 3-5). Who worked in succession, not parallel to each other. (As it should be, if you want to assure a certain level of quality.)

I'm not sure where we're now at, but the way most books read I suspect one editor for
