The federal government plans to eliminate services for LGBTQ youth who call 988, the national suicide and crisis hotline, according to a Health and Human Services budget draft leaked last week.
HHS plans to cut the national suicide hotline’s program for LGBTQ youth
In February, the program received an average of 2,100 contacts per day.

The open letter calling for "Constructive Engagement" that many leaders in high ed have signed doesn't impress me much. What is constructive engagement? Are we supposed to compromise with Trump 2.0? Maybe it's a start, but one that sounds good but isn't praxis.

Thus far DOGE operatives have have full read access to govt payments system at Treasury (yr tax refunds, bank info, etc); full access to all CMS data (anything tied to your Medicare or Medicaid); and now they are seeking full access to everyone's tax returns. Feeling safer?

Just here to say that factchecking and being upset that social media won't factcheck isn't virtue signaling; it's holding our public accountable for the truth. That's the bare minimum we should do for our fellow humans.

This is what's so baffling about so many suggestions for AI in the humanities classroom: they mistake the product for the point. Writing outlines and essays is important not because you need to make outlines and essays but because that's how you learn to think with/through complex ideas.
I'm sure many have said this before but I'm reading a student-facing document about how students might use AI in the classroom (if allowed) and one of the recs is: use AI to make an outline of your reading! But ISN'T MAKING THE OUTLINE how one actually learns?

Politico is reporting Trump will name Dr. Ladapo of Florida to a senior spot, likely Surgeon General or Assistant HHS.
This would be a horrifying pick for trans people. He's responsible for Florida's adult trans ban, and works with SEGM/Anti-trans global movement.
